Academy

Sunset Hills Tennis Academy

Sunset Hills Country Club has junior tennis programs for all ages and ability levels.

Juniors are asked to commit to at least two classes per week and registration is on a monthly basis. Missed classes can be made up any other time that class meets during the current month.

Each player will be evaluated by our teaching pros to determine the appropriate class for that player.

Munchkins Ages: 3-5yrs.

Munchkin tennis is a lot of fun and teaches the beginnings of tennis basics. We want munchkin players to love coming to tennis!

Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-4pm

Pee Wees Ages: 5-8yrs.

Pee Wee tennis is a little more advanced. Players are starting to run more while making shots and rally with the pro. (We still have a lot of fun with these classes.)

Classes meet on Wednesdays and Fridays 3:15-4pm

Future Stars Ages: 9-13yrs.

Future Star tennis is for the player who is beginning to show real interest in the game. At this level we begin to shape shot technique, learn correct scorekeeping and proper tennis etiquette. This class will concentrate on point play with an emphasis on serving and keeping track of score in both singles and doubles.

USTA Ages: 13-17yrs.

USTA tennis is for players who are beginning competitive match play. This class is designed to improve shot technique to its highest level, improve fitness and give the player strategies for matches. Players in this class are beginning to play in leagues and tournaments.

Tournament Players Ages: 13-17yrs. Invitation Only

Tournament players are juniors who have excelled in match play and are invited to join our top level drills. This class will focus on competitive drill play, stroke efficiency, consistency, footwork, fitness and singles and doubles strategy. These players will play matches and be ranked on an Academy Ladder with awards for top performers. Juniors in this class are encouraged to play in tournaments and leagues regularly and will be taken to tournaments as a group during the year.
