RULE CHANGES FOR 2008
Identifying Ball in Hazard - Golfer will be allowed to lift a ball for identification in a bunker or a water hazard. However, there will now be a penalty (two strokes in stroke play and loss of hole in match play) for playing a wrong ball from a hazard. These changes will be included in Rules 12-2 and 15-3.
Distance Measuring Devices - In 2008, if a Local Rule permits the use of a distance measuring device, the information may be shared with another player. Devices used are to only measure distance.
Ball Deflected by Player - Penalty for a ball deflected by player will be reduced from (2) strokes, to (1) stroke in both stroke and match play.
